Findings
The provenance data are conclusive. The art dealers Beets, Mensing and J. Goudstikker were joint owners of this painting.
Opmerkingen:
This painting belonged to the Beets collection that was put up for public sale at Frederik Muller auctioneers (owners Mensing & Son), Amsterdam, from 9 to 11 April 1940, as lot 306. On the basis of J. Goudstikker's notebook and the stock records kept by Goudstikker/Miedl it may be concluded that the landscape was not sold at this auction. It is not known when ownership was divided between Beets, Mensing and Goudstikker. In the records of Miedl and SNK this painting was confused with nr.5623, a dune landscape by Van Hees purchased from Katz. This is also the administrative number on the back of the painting.Reconstruction origin history
