Mrs E. May, was married to A.L.A.M. von Marx. Together they fled from the Netherlands around 14 May 1940. In a draft for a Statement of Receipt with regard to the return of a chest of drawers to Mrs E. von Marx-May, the Nederlandsch Beheersinstituut wrote: ' that moreover during the German occupation in this country that also her other art property, also without her permission, was brought to auction upon the orders of the German Verwalter of the firm Fred. Muller & co in Amsterdam.'.
